The role of Washizuka Yaheiji, secondary villain, is depicted against a striking background of dark mica pigment. The scene is from the Kabuki play Koi-nyöbö Somewaki Tazuma, which took place at the Kawarizaki-za theater in Edo. (from “Kabuki Actors on Stage” exhibition, 4/14/2003-)
