Description:
The balanced composition of this print gives it a strong sense of stability, appropriate for its main subject of Mount Fuji. The compositional elements occur in pairs: two tall Japanese maple trees indicating the season of autumn; pale yellow flanked by rich green on either side of the river bank; the deep blue along the upper edge of the sky mirrored by the blue at the lower edge of the river; and the village nestled in shadow, the rooftops of which mimic the shape of a snow-covered Mount Fuji towering above. “Hokusai’s Summit: Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji” (09/24/2009-01/06/2010) ******************************
