"Tsuma no Kokoro" (Mind of a Wife) Vol.7, No.3. Frontispiece illustration from the popular literary magazine, Bungei Kurabu, which was aimed at largely female readers in Meiji - Taisho era. Eisen TOMIOKA was a very popular illustrator. It was said that the magazines with kuchi-e by Eisen were sold much better than the ones without Eisen's kuchi-e.
