Description:
Province of Hitachi: the boat landing at Kashima on the Kita-ura lagoon on the lower course of the Tonegawa. From this landing a broad avenue leads to the ancient Daijingu Buddhist temple, a noted pilgrim resort.--Gookin This print depicts the boat landing of the Kashima Grand Shrine and its large torii gate built in the water. A road leads from the landing up the mountain-past inns and tea houses-to the great Shinto shrine.--Swinton
