Chuban Tokaido Series: # 1 Nihonbashi Artist: Kunisada Format: Chuban tate-e: 10.25" x 7.25" Subject: In the foreground an elegantly attired bijin and behind the cloud bank Hiroshige's view of the Nihonbashi teeming with merchants. In the background kites flying and a distant view of Mount Fuji Publisher: Moriya Jihei Date: c. 1835 Condition: Fine colors. Full size untrimmed. Very minor wormage. Very slightly soiled and rubbed. A tiny edge damage at base. Album binding holes along top edge. Traces of a previous mounting at top edge on verso. Generally very good state of preservation. Impression: Very fine impression of the first edition.
