Sunday, 14 January 2007 Artist ODA, Kazuma (1881-1956) Title "Matsue Bridge in Snow" ("Matsue Ohashi") Date 1924. Original edition (of 300 impressions). Series na Publisher na Seal, Carver/Printer na Image Size 9 1/4 x 14 1/4 Impression Very Fine. Skillfully executed "bokashi" shading; deep, heavy "gauffrage" to snow-covered mountains (see last image); crisply detailed lines. Condition Excellent. Excellent colors; clean backside; full margins. (No condition problems--flawless.) Reference/Illus "The New Wave" pl# 141; Blair "1930 Toledo Exhibition" #167. Comments Beautiful wintertime snowscene with deep "gauffage." Very rare, classic "shin hanga" image, in unusually superb condition. Matsue was the bitterly cold wintertime home of Lafcadio Hearn on Japan's northern coast. Item # CG-961
