Title: "Girl Holding Lipstick" ("Benifude moteru onna") Date: 1920 (Showa era edition printed with sanction of Goyo's heirs). Image Size: 10.25" x 15.25" Impression: Fine. Sumptuous pink "mica" background; gold metallic highlights to collar; gauffraged birds and haircover. Condition: Fine. A wonderful portrait of the Maiko (apprentice geisha) Chiyo of Gion, Kyoto. One of the most tender images in all of Japanese art and comparable with Utamaro's best. One of a very few reprints made with the blessing of Goyo's heirs.
