Description:
Colour woodblock print, an oban diptych from an album of 117 sheets. The kabuki actors Onoe Matsusuke II (right sheet) as (Kano) Utanosuke playing the kokyu, and Ichikawa Denzo I (left sheet) as the serving lady (koshimoto) Nadeshiko playing the shamisen; in the play ‘Jujo Genji Monogusa Taro’ by Asada Itcho performed at the Nakamura-za in the 5th month of 1813.
