Description:
"The Treasure Ship" is coming into port on New Year's morning, with the Seven Gods of Good Fortune (shichi fuku-jin) onboard. A crane emblematic of longevity is flying overhead. The sail is decorated with a "good luck" character and symbolic treasures or takaramono (for example, the hat and raincoat (kakure-gasa and kakure-mino) which render the wearer invisible; the wealth-producing mallet; the key to the treasure chests of the gods; and the wish-granting jewel (tama). The dragon figure-head on the prow is symbolic of power over the elemental forces of water and air; the elephant-lion in the back of the boat, of power over the beasts of field and forest.
