The Hakone Open-Air Museum, which includes Sekirakuen Garden and an expansive landscape setting, has numerous maple trees that are especially beautiful in the autumn season. Opened in 1969 as the first open-air art museum in Japan, its large grounds are famous for housing hundreds of sculptures by internationally famous modern and contemporary sculptors.
