Thanks for visiting my auction. You are viewing a rare Oban woodblock print by Hiroshi Yoshida (1876-1950). The print is entitled, "Harbor of Tomonoura" (Kura in Tomonoura) from the Inland Sea, Second Series, 1930. This print is an original print with the "Jizuri" seal in the left margin. The colors of the print are remarkable as well as the quality of the printing. The top of the print has two binding/drying holes in the top margin. The following is a description of the print from the January 1936 Toledo Exhibition on Modern Japanese Prints: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HARBOR OF TOMO (Tomo No Minato) A small but busy waterfront. The white plastered buildings are fireproof go-downs or warehouses. 9 5/8" x 14 9/16" Autographed at lower right, Yoshida; red seal, Hiroshi. Left margin: "Jizuri" (self-printed); the date, "Showa Go Nen Saku" (Made in the 5th Year of Showa 1930); the series, "Seto Nai Kai" (Inland Sea, bordering Seto); and the Japanese title. Lower margin: English title, "Harbor of Tomonoura": and the artist's name written with pencil. Printed by the artist; blocks cut by Maeda. Blocks, 18 to 20; superimposed printings, 30 to 50; edition, 100.
