Description:
You are bidding on an original, Japanese, 5 color, woodblock, Sosaku-hanga, or Creative print, by listed artist Inagaki Tomoo (1902 - 1980) who was born in Tokyo. The subject features a marvelous modern, contemporary design of two cats, which Tomoo was most noted for, one of whom has turned towards you, as if hearing your approach. I estimate the execution date to be between the 1940's to mid 60's. PAPER SIZE: 6 1/2" x 4 1/2", hinged on a 7" x 5" coverstock. IMAGE SIZE: 6" x 4" CONDITION: EXCELLENT! I see no damage to the actual print or paper such as tears or stains. I do note that the mount was hinged, most likely to a stiffer backing at one time, as you can see the remaining hinge mark on the back. There is no foxing, & I see no evidence of major exposure to sunlight, (toning)
