Description:
Hiroshige or Kunisada?? Morning at Kameyama, from the series Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido, by Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858) The subtitle of this print is yukibare or fine weather after snow. On the sunny morning after a snowfall, the air is perfectly clear and bitingly cold. In keeping with this icicle sharp scenery, the artist has created a composition filled with clear diagonals. Similarly the colors used are strictly limited to the white of the snow, the blue of the sky, and the red near the horizon line, (this print is faded so the colors are somewhat hard to see).
