Description:
This is one of the most unusual views of Mt. Fuji in this series. Seen through the open trunk of a tree, the mountain appears framed yet somehow diminished by the unusual treatment. Here we see a springtime scene of the river as it flows from Koganei in Musashi Province to Chöfu City. The banks of the river are lined with colorful flowers and cherry trees in bloom. The sky has a lovely pinkish glow as if the trees are lighting the sky. Birds flutter in the blue sky above. (from “View from an Enchanted Window: Hiroshige and Mt. Fuji” exhibition, 3/16/2006-)
