Description:
Colour woodblock print, an oban triptych from an album of 117 sheets. The kabuki actors Ichikawa Danjuro VII as Kudo Suketsune (right sheet), seated with a sword and fan, Otani Oniji V as Kobayashi no Asahina (centre), Iwai Matsunosuke I as Soga no Hako-o Tokimune and Segawa Kikunojo V as Soga no Ichiman Sukenari (left sheet), all under flowering plum blossoms; in the play ‘Kobikicho Soga no tamamono’ by Tsuruya Nanboku IV performed at the Kawarasaki-za in the 1st month of 1817.
