Colour woodblock print, oban tate-e. Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as Watonai in the play 'Kokusenya kassen' (国姓爺合戦) performed at the Nakamura Theater in the fifth month of Kaei 3 (1850), in a purple-brown robe with dramatic red make-up.
