Description:
Colour woodblock print, oban. The kabuki actors Iwai Hanshiro V as Aso, daughter of Kumasaka ('Kumasaka no musume Aso'), standing with a hoe in one hand and a ceremonial hat in the other, and Onoe Eizaburo I as the farmer Dekisaku, in reality, Ogata Saburo ('Hyakusho Dekisaku jitsu wa Ogata Saburo’), also holding a farming implement; in the play 'Kigoto no hana Yashima no kaijin' by Katsu Hyozo, performed at the Ichimura-za in the 11th month of 1807.
