Description:
Colour woodblock print, left sheet of an oban diptych. The kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro VII as ‘the farmer Jussaku, in reality Sukune Taro’ (‘Hyakusho Jussaku jitsu wa Sukune Taro’), with two swords and farming implements over his shoulder; in the play ‘Sekai no hana Sugawara denju’ by Tsuruya Nanboku IV, performed at the Ichimura-za in the 11th month of 1814. The right sheet of this diptych is 1908,0718,0.65.1-2.
