Description:
"Ichijo Modoribashi no Ba" (The Scene at Ichijo Modori-bashi Bridge) from Kabuki dance drama, "Ibaraki". Watanabe no Tsuna (Right: played by Ichikawa Sadanji-I), one of the legendary Four Retainers of Minamoto Raiko, is pursuing the demon, Kaidomaru (or Ibaraki: played by Onoe Kikugoro -V) who is flying away with his severed hand in the mouth. This dramatic design was featured in the popular Kunichika reference book, "Time Present and Time Past: Images of a Gorgotten Master.".
