Description:

Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro are in the dual roles of priest Mongaku (left) and Fudo-myo-o. Sukedakaya Takasuke plays the assistant of Fudo on the right. Priest Mongaku was performing 37 day penance under the ice-cold Nachi waterfall. When he almost died, Fudo Myo-o (One of the Five Kings of Wisdom in Esoteric Buddhism) appeared and rescued Mongaku.
