Kabuki actor Nakamura Ganjiro is in the role of Takechi Jujiro holding a war helmet preparing for his first battle. Tendrils of hyotan gourd (symbol of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Takechi's enemy) were depicted on the background in subtle sumi-e style.
