Description:
In the latter years of the 18th and the 1st half of the 19th c., Yoshiwara women ofthe highest class were call tayu. The woman here depicted is attired in extravagant finer and has eight wooden kanzashi (hairpins) in her coiffure. She is seated near a screen upon which is a painting of Mt.
