Description:
Ogino Isaburo I (1703-48) as the otokodate Karigane Bunshichi in the play "The five Otokodate of the Full Moon" (Meigetsu Gonin Otoko) at the Nakamura-za, Edo, in the autumn of 1730 (Kyoho 15). [Must double-check with Kabuki nenpyo] According to Gookin the text about Bunshichi's role, printed upon the background, he (Bunshichi) announces himself as one who is well known in Osaka. [Inscription needs to be fully translated]. Bunshichi has secured a sword, a shakuhachi (five-holed bamboo clarinet) and an inro (with a fan [uchiwa] motif) under his waist sash.
