Description:

The courtesan shows off the many layers of her elegant kimono and a floral-patterned sash as she parades with her girl attendant (kamuro) along the Naka-no-cho, the main avenue of the Yoshiwara pleasure quarters, lined with cherry-trees. The occasion may be the cherry blossom festival, or simply one of the daily processions of high-ranking courtesans (tayu or oiran) walking from the brothels where they lived to the teahouses where they first met their clients.
