the young beauty wearing a sheer lilac-colored summer kimono holds her uchiwa fan in her teeth while clasping together her hands to catch a firefly; her finely rendered hair contrasts subtly with the gradation of black to grey bokashi in the night sky; signed at right, Yoshitoshi with artist's circular seal Taiso, the date in a yellow cartouche to the left, Meiji nijuichinen (Meiji 21 [1888]) followed by publisher's information of Tsunashima Kamekichi and block-carver seal below, Wada to, the print series title in she shape of a signboard at upper right, the three-color print title cartouche indicates an early printing
