Description:
Numbered 120/350, Carver:Maeda, Kentaro, Printer:Fujii, Shunosuke. Richard Miles' comments:This masterful composition shows two young shepherds pausing to rest. The cold climate of the mountains is well indicated by such details as the woolen sweater-sleeve visible under the jacket and vest. The pastel colors of the background suggest frostiness in a highly theatrical way. Note the rope and horsehair sandals, which were in use in Korea at the time. The white garment is embossed, and lightly outlined with the same color as the lowere figure's jacket. Miles, The Prints of Paul Jacoulet, pp.61,106.
