Description:
Kaga no Chiyo was a famous poet from Kaga province. Her most famous poem, written about a bucket, is illustrated in this print. One morning, when Chiyo goes to the well next to her house, she discovers that her bucket has been overgrown with a morning-glory vine. Rather than disturg the flowers, she asks for water at her neighbour's and on that occasion she composed a haiku poem. Published by Izumiya Ichibei. Robert Schaap, Heroes and Ghosts - p.125 Framed in silk and brushed silver frame.
