Description:
Miniature surimono style print. This is one of a series of miniature woodblock prints that Jacoulet produced for Christmas and New Year's cards. This was Jacoulet's most popular print in terms of full subscription, though many of the first 170 impressions are considered lost. The quality of the printing, and the vegetable colors used, are outstanding. The rarer prints have a very refined cutting of the bangs on the forehead and extremely delicate carving of the hair. The model was not an aristocatic Manchurian lady but actually a servant of the artist's mother. THE PRINTS OF JACOULET, p. 103. Framed with acid-free matboard and ultraviolet filtering plexiglas in a 22kt gold leaf frame.
