Triptych: Sutoku The 75th Emperor Artist: Yoshitoshi Format: Oban triptych: each sheet: 14" x 9.25" Subject: Sutoku in exile on the island of Sanuki haughtily refusing to recive the priest Rennyo. From the series of ten triptychs all designed within a partially unrolled scroll format; entitled 'A Short History of Great Japan'. Date: 1880 Condition: Good colors. Full size with margins. All three sheets with damp staining at base. Minor wormage, rubbing and damages. Fair/poor state of preservation. Impression: Very good impressions.
