Description:
We proudly present for auction this gorgeous Japanese woodblock print. This print is done in the Shin Hanga style, and dates to the circa 1930-40's time period. I certainly wish that I could read Japanese, for then I would be able to positively identify this extremely talented artist. However, I'm sure that many of you eBay-ers are able to do so easily. This print bears a striking resemblance to a Koitsu print we recently sold; the colors and style are virtually identical. (See photo). Could this have been created by the great master working under a psuedonym? I welcome ANY feedback on this matter, as identifying this artist has been driving me completely batty! Regardless, this is a superb Shin Hanga print in very good condition, with no tears, wrinkles, creases, or areas of foxing. Also, the print is completely free from toning. The print measures 16.7" (42.5 cm) high by 12" (30.5 cm) wide. All margins are intact. It was created on high-quality handmade paper that shows a lovely deckle edge to the upper and left-hand edges. Unfortunately, the print was pasted to matboard.
