Description:
This is matted,framed,under-glass...to help with dating the framing job: the label on the back of this wooden frame that measures 16 and 1/2" x 21 and 3/4",is:"The Alley Gallery,320 Rul Ross,Houston 6,Texas...Houston's Smart Picture Framing Address"...with the original backing-paper present(label and backing paper are aged enough to look to be 1940's-1950's). To the very best of our knowledge this is a WOODBLOCK print,hand-done...the Woodblock print ITSELF,we are unsure of it's age...when we look close up at the image with a jeweler's "loop"...we see no dots(meaning a print 'print')...we are very sure this is a hand-pulled woodbock print...Chinese(or Korean)....we see no paint "strokes"(from a brush)...and this is what leads us to believe an ink woodblock print. BUT THE REAL KEY ARE THE MARKS: Has 3 MARKS at the R corner bottom of print(please see close-up PHOTO),one(1) MARK is red-colored(at bottom) and the other two(2)are black-colored. The matted image ITSELF,of the HORSE with the light peach-colored background,is 14 and 1/2" long x 9 and 1/2" tall
