Description:
NIJU-BASHI (Castle and Double Bridge in Tokyo), Japanese Woodblock Print, Tokuriki (1902-2000). Best known for his mastery of blending of similar colors, Tokuriki uncharacteristically turns to strong contrasts of green, blue and white in "Double Bridge". The details are clear, vivid, and distinct. The trees appear to be swept by a strong wind. This is a strong print on light-weight paper with good bleed-through; the image is clearly visible on the back of the print. The print is vivid, with all the details clear. There is no visible damage to the image itself, though there is some slight crinkling in the mid-right margin. The print may have been part of a set as there is a pencil-written "5-I" in the low right margin. Above this is a carver's seal that I have not translated. There is a signature block in the lower left. Image size is approximately 10.25" x 15" and margin to margin, 11.25" x 16.25".
