Description:
HI Ross + hope this finds you in good spirits as the link to the photostream has another set of images you may want to add to the broader JAODB. The first detail I wrestled with is "did Shinsui Ito produce works beyond the widely known woodblock prints?" I did find a number of examples to confirm he did ink and paper work…yet seem to be described as scrolls. I have yet to find ones listed in this dimensions - 7" x 8.5" (18cm x 21cm) - but have seen very similar works with very similar titles. There is an auction list (see line 99) which has very similar measurements for a work titled "plum". I have not found a work titled "plum" but he did a series of fruit/still-lifes in 1939 so its not a stretch. Well, I need to run. Let me know if the images are decent for you to use - I can always take more. Hope this helps!
