10/01/2005 Title On the Way Artist Hao Ping born 1952 Signature Signed and numbered by the artist in pencil. Dated 1993 Technique/Medium Woodcut Impression Printed in oil-based inks on a pliable, Chinese paper of middle thickness. Edition Size 80 Numbered 61/80 Description "On the Way" This daring, yet balanced composition shows a young woman with long black hair and elegant face from the Eastern regions and a Yak animal next to her. The yak was domesticated in Tibet probably 3000 years ago. With its thick coat it is perfectly adopted to the harsh temperatures of the high plateaus of Central Asia. The woman and the Yak take a break on their journey. The red-eyed yak seems to like it.
