Description:
Sunday, 22 January 2006 Japanese woodblock print entitled "Kagurasaka at Ushigome" by the French artist Noel Nouet (1885-1969). This print is dated 1937 and is from the Scenes of Tokyo Views series. Measures 10 1/2" x 15 1/2". Edition and printer unknown, but possibly late 1930's. Ink signature. Nice crisp image, but there are some condition issues since the print was laid down on cardboard. The front top left corner is torn off, but I will include the portion of cardboard it was attached to. Someone skilled may be able to remove and reattach it. The front bottom right corner has a small tear and fold to it, but is still firmly attached. There is also a glue spot on the rear upper right corner that makes the paper appear thin from the front. Iida Kunitaro
