2005/01/03 Title August - Collection of New Ukiyoe Style Beauties Artist Shuko Nakayama active in 1920s Signature Shuko Seal artist's seal (shuko) Dated 1924 Technique/Medium Woodblock print Impression excellent … embossed Colors excellent … brass-colored and silver colored metallic pigments, mica lightly sprinkled on the hair Condition good … several thin paper cracks around the back of the collar and lower left area otherwise in excellent condition. Description From the series, "Shin Ukiyo-e Bijin Awase" (Collection of New Ukiyo-e Style Beauties), "Hachi-gatsu: Hazukashiki Hito" (August: Shy). Note All the prints in this series tend to crack where they were printed with mineral pigments. The pigments make the paper brittle over time.
