Artist: Lilian Miller Title: Festival of Lanterns - Nara Title: Original Woodblock Print Series: Date: c. 1934 Publisher: Size 15 x 6 -3/4 " (sheet) Kendall Brown notes that, "glowing lanterns are dwarfed by a massive tree, its luminous trunk set off against the mat-finish pastel of the boughs". Inscribed in pencil by the artist in the bottom margin, "Festival of Lanterns - Nara. By Lilian Miller". PROVENANCE: From the collection of Mrs. Simon Bolivar Buckner, Jr., wife of Lt. General Buckner, of Pacific fame. Mrs. Buckner was a friend of the artist, from whom she purchased a number of prints. And by descent in the family.
