Description:
Monday, 16 May 2005 You are bidding on a very special LARGE PENCIL SIGNED ORIGINAL Japanese woodblock print “Dancing Bijin” pencil signed by the famous Taisho/Showa artist Kito Nabesaburo, made in 1976. Kito Nabesaburo was very famous in traditional Japanese Bijin woodblock prints, but he only made a few pieces of artwork in his whole lifetime. The size of the woodblock print is 18 x 13 ? inches, which is larger than the standard sized woodblock prints. All four borders are intact. The artist’s pencil signature and 44/120 written by pencil, which means the 44th print out of 120 prints, is in the lower bottom border. At the lower left corner of the print, there is the artist’s chop mark and some other pencil writing, one is the title of this print and the other is 9-25, which I think is the day he completed this artwork. In the lower border, there is a watermark saying 1976.4 N.Y. S. The colors, which are vivid and vibrant, are in layers. Except for a very light foxing spot in the middle of the right border, which does not affect the image at all, this woodblock print is in excellent condition.
