Description:
Monday, 27 November 2006 Snow-Storm at Tsukishima from the series Twenty Views of Tokyo by Kawase Hasui. Original Japanese woodblock print dated Showa 5 (1930). Fine condition. Normal washi tone for this age of print. Oban size print measures 10.5 x 15.2 inches. Good ink bleedthrough on fine washi. English title "Stormy Day at Tsukishima" "Hasui" and "1930" written in pencil in bottom margin. Watanabe C seal in right margin. Limited to 200 impressions according to the 1936 Toledo Museum catalog, 20 woodblocks used with 25 superimposed printings. Probably Hasui's finest snow scene.
