M[asana] KAWAKUBO (Japanese, Nineteenth/Twentieth Century) Nikko Temple [?] Original watercolor, circa 1900-1910, signed lower-right, on cream paper laid down on board; very light toning to the sheet overall but otherwise in excellent condition Image 9 1/2 x 12 5/8 inches Sheet 9 15/16 x 13 inches This is a very finely executed watercolor and, especially in the details of the temple buildings, is considerably more skillfuly painted than many Meiji -era watercolors.
