Description:
Saturday, 12 May 2007 Katsuda titles his prints only with a number indicating its sequence in his opus. This image is no exception: it is titled "No. 106", and it depicts a flower (sadly, I am botanically challenged and cannot identify the flower). It is numbered 69 of an edition of 100 and is signed in pencil by the artist and dated 1977. It embodies the stippling effect and gorgeous subtlety of coloration for which Katsuda is justly famous. The print appears to be in perfect condition, though I have not examined it outside its frame. (Nevertheless, I should note that it is professionally, tastefully and competently framed with what appear to be archival materials.) The image measures 8.75" x 6.5" (22 x 16.5 cm), while the frame measures 16.25" x 13" (41 x 33 cm).
