Description:
The artist is Ishiwata Koitsu as signed. Paper is about 15 1/4" by 10 1/4". Incredibly RARE !!! Ishiwata Koitsu prints are as hard to find as hen's teeth. This is not the same artist as Tsuchiya Koitsu. Publisher seal of Watanabe Shizaburo in lower right margin. Watanabe Seal C. Dated 1932 as best as I can tell. Maybe it is dated earlier. I read the date as SHOWA 7. Early FIRST PRINTING !!! Titled "Rainy Day at Yokohama Harbor". Image of a Harbor or Lake or Ocean in Yokohama during an vicious downpour of rain. Swirling motion depicted in both the sheets of rain in this rainstorm and work of the fishermen. Excellent detail. Note the early image of the modernization of Japan with the Telephone poles and wires in the background.
