Wednesday, 17 August 2005 PLEASE NOTE: Whilst the colour of the flowers is a very delicate pink, their definitin is rather better than than captured by my camera in the photo below, as is the pencil signature, and the Japanese characters on the back of the folder mount. ITEM: Limited Edition signed woodblock print of a girl with flowers by Japanese artist SHUZO IKEDA BRIEF DETAILS ABOUT THE ARTIST: Born 1922 in Kisakata-machi, Japan. Graduated from school 1945. Taught in Akita 1946--1955. Worked in Tokyo as a Hanga artist. Shuzo carefully employed the texture of wood in his prints, and specialised in styalised wide-eyed children with flowers, birds, insects, sacred stone images, and native dolls. THE PRINT: The print is presented in a plain, cream-coloured, paper 'folder' with window to the front. The folder is marked in pencil on the back with Japanese characters ( Please see photo below - the characters are in reality well defined with all strokes complete) . The print is maked in pencil to the bottom left of the the image ' 35/300 ', and to the bottom right is signed in pencil ' Shu. Ikeda ' (the shortened form being frequently used by Ikeda ). DIMENSIONS: of image: 6.3" x 5.5" ( 16cm x 14cm). CONDITION: print in excellent undamaged condition.
