Monday, 1 August 2005 Title Hanabi (2) - Fireworks (2) Artist Shuzo Ikeda born 1922 Signature Signed in black in the image; title, date and edition number in pencil on the lower margin. Dated 1962 Technique/Medium Woodblock print Colors Mica sprinkled on the firework Condition Very good … light toning, margins slightly soiled, light creases on the margins, a tear (1/4 inch long) on the middle bottom margin edge. Edition Size 50 Numbered 9/50 Description From the children's series made in 1962. The strong black outlines and dark colors were reminiscent to those of Georges Rouault. But Kaoru's pictures had none of the serious religeous connotations or sadness. These children seem to involve in their innocent activities in the warm, dark and fuzzy dream in the past.
