Description:
Sunday, 11 November 2007 Gihachiro Okuyama (Japanese, 1907-1981) A wood block print by the 20th century artist Gihachiro Okuyama depicting the famous “Self Portrait” by Victor Van Gogh. This print measures approximately 11 ?” height by 9 3/8” width (the printed surface); 12 ?” height by 10 ?” width (the paper size); and 20 5/8” height by 19 ?” width (the frame). This print is signed “Gihachiro Okuyama” and has additional text in Japanese. This is from a series of prints that the artist did based upon the work of Vincent Van Gogh. The print is framed in an unusual and attractive way ? it is sandwiched between (“floats” between) two layers of TrueVue glass. This means that the front, back and margins of the print can be clearly seen and examined. There is no damage to the print and only minor wear to the black wood frame.
