Description:
Monday, 31 December 2007 These beautiful woodblock prints would make quite a statement framed and hung side by side. It is my understanding that the artist, Bakufu Ohno, didn't title them, but they are known as Lily in Bamboo Vase and Peony in Bamboo Vase. They are not mine, but am selling for a friend. The prints measure approximately 10.5" by 15.5" and are in good condition. They have a few minor bites on the edges and a couple of pinholes and some minor dents and wrinkles. They also have the word SAMPLE stamped on the back, but it doesn't show through to the front. I don't believe any of these imperfections would be very noticeable after framing, but wanted to point them out in the interest of full disclosure. The background tone has darkened to a peachy-terra cotta color (not pink as it looks in they peony photo) and the ink colors are subtle and beautiful. There is a slight embossed effect around the flowers. The paper is sort of fibrous, more noticeable on the back. If you love Japanese art, you'll love these!
