ORIGINAL WOODBLOCK BY UMETARO AZECHI(1902-1999) TITLE: WOMAN MOUNTAIN CLIMBER. TITLED IN JAPANESE (VERY FAINT) ON VERSO. SIZE 17 1/2" X 21 1/4". PUBLISHED IN 1953, CARVED, PRINTED AND PUBLISHED BY THE ARTIST. EDITION 10 PRINTS OF WHICH THIS PRINT IS #8. SIGNED IN PENCIL AT THE BOTTOM 53 10/8 U. AZECHI WITH ARTIST SEAL AT RIGHT. CONDITION: POOR, COLOR AND IMPRESSION FAIR. NEVER LAID DOWN. LEFT BOTTOM CORNER WATER STAINED, RIGHT BOTTOM MARGIN WATER STAINED, ENTIRE LEFT MARGIN, WARN, TATTERED AND TORN, TEAR PART DOES NOT EXTEND INTO THE IMAGE, JUST TO MARGIN, VARIOUS WRINKLING IN MID-SECTION OF PRINT IN SNOW AREA. ON VERSO , SOILING AND STAINS IN SAME AREAS AS FRONT, NO TAPE MARKS. THIS IS NO DOUBT A RARE PRINT ONLY 10 PRINTED AND IS THE LARGEST ONE WE HAVE AND WOULD BE WELL WORTH HAVING RESTORED.
