Description:
Up for auction is this vintage woodblock print by Takeji Asano. I am not a collector and do not know a great deal about what I am offering but will tell you what I do know. The photos show the pencil signatures in both bottom corners. The piece shows some darkness around the edges of the paper due to aging. There is one small brownish spot 1/8" in diameter about 2" inside the right border, midway down the picture. I don't know what it is. There is no hole, just a stain of some sort. I have had an artist look at this piece who says it is an original woodblock. The piece was in a very beautiful, old bamboo frame, with a salmon colored silk chantung matting. I took it apart for photographing but will include the frame, matt, and glass if the buyer wants them. I came upon this piece from a friend whose mother had recently passed away. My friend told me that her mother had traveled frequently in Japan and had purchased it there from the artist many years ago.
