Description:
Colour woodblock print, oban triptych from an album of 117 sheets. The kabuki actors Bando Mitsugoro III (right sheet) as Dozaemon Denkichi, holding a sign reading 'shochikubai', Iwai Hanshiro V (centre) as Yaoya Oshichi and Onoe Eizaburo I (left sheet) as Kosho Kichisaburo, beneath the branches of a flowering cherry tree; in the play ‘Sono mukashi koi no Edozome’ by Sakurada Jisuke I performed at the Morita-za in the 3rd month of 1809.
