Colour woodblock print, oban. The kabuki actor Seki Sanjuro III as Heiji Kagetaka, from Act II, ‘The Disinheriting of Genta’ (‘Genta kando’) (源太勘当), in the play ‘Hiragana seisuiki’ (ひらがな盛衰記), (also ‘Hirakana seisuiki’), by Bunkodo, Miyoshi Shoraku, Asada Kakei and Takeda Izumo II; performed at the Ichimura-za in the 4th month of 1840 (Tenpo 11). A poem by the actor above signed and sealed.
